The Conero Riviera and Colli dell’Infinito are magical places, all waiting to be discovered:
Some say that Conero derives from the Greek kòmaros, strawberry tree, others from kynei, helmet, as the profile resembles its shape, or even from the combination of kyma, wave, and oròs, mountain, and is therefore the “mountain on the waves”. What is certain is that Monte Conero, with its beaches along the Riviera and the enveloping hills behind it, offers an extraordinary natural setting
Places to visit
Ancona
In addition to the many beauties of the city, in Ancona you can admire the sun both rising and setting in the sea, a unique spectacle in Italy. This is made possible by the outstretched and at the same time closed-in conformation of the city. Not surprisingly, the name Ancona comes from the Greek Ἀγκών, ankòn, which means “elbow”. For this reason, Ancona is called the city of the two suns.
Monte Conero
A unique majestic rocky promontory from Trieste to the Gargano, Monte Conero gives the Adriatic coast heights and rocky walls worthy of its name, even though it is not actually a mountain: it lacks 28 meters to truly be one.
Le Due Sorelle beach
Two rocks so similar that they are called “le Due Sorelle” (the two sisters) resemble two nuns praying and giving thanks to the Monte that protects them. This enchanting beach, like other coves, can only be reached by sea and boasts the clearest waters along the entire Riviera.
Recanati and Casa Leopardi
Among the gentle hills of the countryside, the poet and philosopher Giacomo Leopardi saw the Infinite in a small province. In Recanati, you can visit the museum house and the library where Leopardi studied and composed his works.
